How do you go about getting the word out about your home business to all of those in your neighborhood?

I have a friend who moved to a new neighborhood and asked me this question so I thought I would pose that question here too.

My license plate frame has Tupperware on it. So everyone in the neighborhood knows I sell Tupperware.

Flyers and/or a flyer with a business card and catalog (if catalogs are affordable enough) put them in a little bag with a handle and hang them on their doors where they are sure to see them.

Some Avon reps have done this with success.

most of my direct neighborhood is not my target market so I don't do anything here but I do have people who put out stuff in other areas for me

I pass out fliers/business cards in my neighborhood. I also advertise on my license plate frame.

I wonder how many orders or parties people get from putting out flyers in the neighborhood. I have a sticker on my car and I have small kids that play outside a lot so I tell everyone about my business that way. It especially helps when I have my cute jewelry on and not my grungy stay in the house clothes!!

We call door to door advertising clover leafing (not sure why). A good clover leaf bag will contain information about your business (brochure, catalog, flyer), your contact information, a special discount offer to entice them to contact you & a small sample if possible. You can by door hanger bags from expressyourselfonline.com . Please be advisted that it is illegal to hang anything or put anything into someones mailbox! I had a previous employer that hung bags on mailboxes, we were contacted by the post office & almost had to pay postage costs for all of the packages.
