Standardized Testing In Schools???

Postby ravish30 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 11:42 am

What are your thoughts on the government making schools test our school children with testing at certain grade levels and then holding the teachers and the schools accountable for how well or how badly our children score on these standardized tests?

Do you feel its a good thing or a bad thing and why?

how about a simple GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I think it's beyond stupid and a waste
point in fact: my precious DD scored the top of her school for 5th grade
what'd they do for 6th grade? They automatically put her in gifted classes WITHOUT asking me first?? So now she has a truck load of nonsense busy work, homework and stupid projects that mean nothing in the big picture and the kids in regular classes have no projects, and minimal homework.
The first part of the year is drill the kids to make them know how to work the test then after March when the testing is done they slam the kids w/the "real" work for the school year and try to squeeze that into their brains from march til may when school's out.
It's nonsense and I personally HATE it!
