I have not had fried cabbage in a long while ! I have never cooked it, but for some reason I am thinking it was done in bacon grease, little salt n pep to taste- I remember that it did not take long, sorta reminded me of wilted lettuce salad
Sorry I cannot be of help- I guess could be found online somewhere - but would be better to hear what others use and like

Ah Pa. Dutch/German cooking.....just my area
I usually just fry my cabbage in butter and add some chopped garlic and s&p to taste.....I dont use measurements....If it looks like it needs a little more butter I will add it.....I start off with a half stick to a head of cabbage. I just pop a lid on it and flip the cabbage around every so often....until it is done....
Sounds good with bacon grease as well.....although if you love bacon, anything fried in bacon greese is good......
I had also experimented bacon grease with my potato soup
I peel & cube about 7 potatoes
fill the pot about halfway and boil until potatoes are soft.
Add some chopped onions and celery & s&P as well as a (t) of parsley and chopped chives from my garden.
When all are soft, I add a can of condensed milk and about 2-3 T of bacon drippings, & simmer til I am ready to eat it.....I crumble up the bacon I fried off and place on top of the soup when serving.....it is so yummy, fattening, but yummy.....tastes even better as a left over.....
