I personally would never join a company if they didn't give you a website to advertise with. I carry my links everywhere...people like looking up things online.

I know a lot of companies ban online ads but not necessarily signatures in emails or on message boards. Many also restrict just to only using company based websites which I can understand that as a way to control the value of the product. Personally I do agree that selling products on ebay can cheapen the thought of your company. However online ads, and signature lines draw a lot of attention nowadays. The business you are looking into is a niche market if you feel you can find enough of a clientel for it without online advertising I say go for it. Otherwise I would look into some of the other companies with similar product lines to see if they allow online promoting. Another reason many companies do anot approve of certain forms of online marketing is that they know that reaching customers face to face truly does provide better customer service.
