Work At Home Forums - Why Spamming Doesn't Work

When it comes to promoting a home business on forum boards, are you spending your networking time wisely? If you are joining online communities to just spam your business information, then you are indeed wasting your time.

Online communities are built around the members who join them. These members will tell you flat out that they will not do business with anyone who joins the community and just spams business ads. Yes, you might get 1-2 business sales or recruits a year by spamming a community, but over the long haul...you are destroying your business reputation and being labeled as a board hopper and spammer. Is your business reputation worth it? I personally don't think so.

When you join an online community, you should be an active and valuable participant in topic discussions. If you are only logging in, heading to the advertising folder...spamming your business ad and then logging out, you are improperly using the forum.

The first step you need to do is fill out your forum profile and make yourself a signature tag. The second step is to find the introduction folder and post a proper introduction to the members of the community. Your introduction should include 3-4 sentences about yourself, your vague location and then a few sentences about your business.

Your introduction should not include: business discounts, graphics of business products, vulgar language, dirty family laundry or personal problems. If you want to post that type of information, find the proper folders for it.

After you have posted your introduction, it's time to explore the forum. Find some topics that are of interest to you and make some meaningful comments or start a few new topics. Remember, you want to 'fit' in with the rest of the members and you want to become a valuable member of the community.

Once you have made several posts in general and business topic folders, you can head to the advertising folder and post a business advertisement. If it's your first visit to the community, make sure you read all rules and guidelines about placing advertisements before you post one.

Finally, you will want to come back to the community on a regular basis and continue to make quality non-spam posts. I recommend visiting the community 3-4 times a week.

In conclusion, if you are only joining online forums just so you can spam your business information, you are wasting your time. Established community members will only do business with those who are not labeled as board hoppers or spammers. Take the time to properly network on forum boards and you will receive positive business results.
