Time Management - Why You Need It!

One of
the most overlooked skills in the business world is time management.
Without this you will never be able to achieve your maximum level of
success. Time management skills go a long way in ensuring that you
get all of your work done on time and efficiently. There are a
couple of tips that you can follow to make sure that your time
management skills are the best they can be.
1.
Keep an activity log in order to stay on track. If you keep a log of
your daily activities, you will soon be able to find out where you
are losing valuable time. After a couple of weeks of doing this, you
may be able to see that you are taking an extra morning coffee break
everyday, costing you over an hours worth of work time each week.
This may not seem like a lot at the time, but over the course of the
year you have cheated yourself out of 52 hours of work! Imagine what
you could have accomplished, and how much money you could have made
during that time period.
2. Set
a schedule for yourself. This will help to ensure that you do not
stray away from your work. If you know your tasks for the day you
should block out time for each one on a calendar or in an organizer.
This will help you keep track of what tasks you have already
completed, and the tasks that you still need to get done.
3. Set
personal goals with deadlines. Setting a goal that you will get an
important project completed by a certain date will give you a great
deal of confidence. Also, remember to reward yourself for reaching
these goals. You worked hard to achieve them, and everybody deserves
a reward every now and then.
4.
Attend time management workshops. They can be very helpful if you
are looking to improve your skills. Professionals in the field of
time management conduct these workshops. You may also want to
suggest to your company that your whole office or team attends the
workshop. Chances are that you are not alone when it comes to
needing to improve time management skills. Attending one of these
seminars may be all you need to take your skills to the next level.
5.
Purchase books or DVDs on time management. Over the past couple of
years hundreds of books and DVDs have been made available to the
public on how to improve time management skills. The best thing
about purchasing these tools is that you can use them over and over
again.

The Penny Game
When each person arrives at the gathering give
them a penny and tell them to hold on to it for a game later in the
evening. When you're finished with the demo and everyone is about to order
tell them about the penny. They have a few options. They can keep the
penny as your gift to them. Or they can redeem their penny and save .01 on
their order. Or they can give you the penny to "buy" a prize. Tell them
ahead of time what the slips say so they can decide if they want to take a
chance. If they decide to "buy" a prize, they must draw a slip from
your mystery bag! Inside the bag have slips of paper with: 10% off your
order, $2.00 off your order, free shipping, no tax, choose a gift. They
get to reach in the bag and draw a slip. If they are really lucky, they
get to book a party ! They must choose a date that night so have your
calendar handy. I've booked lots of demo's from this. Everyone likes to
try their luck and it's a "pressure on them" way to get bookings!! Be sure
to mark your slips as to not give away to many expensive items, shipping,
etc.
